Last night
representative teams from the Stockport and Withington leagues played the
traditional friendly curtain-raiser to the new quiz season. A decisive 68-49
win saw the Stockport team win the WIST Trophy for the fourth year running. A
more detailed discussion of the night’s proceedings and the question paper

There will now be a two-week hiatus before the season begins in earnest with the first round of knockout qualifying games on Thursday 16 October. The next update to this website will be on Saturday 18 October. |

New season fixtures and changes arising from the AGM |

This season all
teams will have to set (at least) three ‘half-quizzes’ for the knockout
qualifying phase and two complete papers for league matches. Dates on which all
teams are due to set questions are here. |

To raise the
league’s profile in an attempt to recruit new teams/players it was agreed at
the AGM that Nick and Jamie will look into re-animating our fairly dormant
Facebook page. |
|
It was also
agreed that to improve communication and engagement within the league we will
set up a WhatsApp group, which Alice has kindly offered to administer.
Joining the group is not compulsory, but it would be good to see as many
people sign up as possible, and we definitely need at least one person from
each team as the group will replace email as the primary means of
communication within the league. Please send the name, team name and mobile
number of anyone that wishes to join the group to Alice. |

Tiviot have declined their place in this season’s WIST Champions Cup. Their place has been taken by HMRUFC, who will play CKC in a local derby at the Griffin on 4 December. |
